The 4th International Conference on Education was hosted by Kenyatta University, and co-sponsored by Syracuse University and Intel, July 14-16, 2015. The theme of the conference was, “Building Capacity Through Quality Teacher Education”. There were approximately 60 participants in the conference, with the majority of the presenters being doctoral students.
Prof. Olive Mugenda, Vice Chancellor of Kenyatta University, officially opened the conference and spoke about “Kenyatta University on the Horizon of Preparing Teachers for the Post 2015 Development Agenda”. Other keynote presentations were given by Dr. Julius Juan, Director of the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, and Prof. Winston Akala, Dean of the School of Education at the University of Nairobi representing Mr. Wilson Sossion of the Kenya National Union of Teachers.

About Joanna Masingila
Joanna Masingila is Dean of the School of Education and Professor of Mathematics and Mathematics Education at Syracuse University. She was a Fulbright Scholar to Kenyatta University in 1998, and since that time Syracuse University and Kenyatta University have an institutional linkage.
