Through our HP Catalyst Initiative, we are working with eight teachers from two secondary schools (a teacher in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics at each school). Four of the teachers work at Kenya High, a national girls secondary school in Nairobi, and the other four work at Nairobi School, a national boys secondary school in Nairobi. We have had workshops with these teachers this year and each of them was given a HP Tablet computer through our project. Recently, we have gone to observe and support these teachers in integrating technology into their teaching, especially in ways to support student conceptual learning.

About Joanna Masingila
Joanna Masingila is Dean of the School of Education and Professor of Mathematics and Mathematics Education at Syracuse University. She was a Fulbright Scholar to Kenyatta University in 1998, and since that time Syracuse University and Kenyatta University have an institutional linkage.
