HP Catalyst Initiative Work

In September 2010, we were awarded a grant through the HP Catalyst Initiative funded by Hewlett Packard.  Through this project, we are working with colleagues in the STEM disciplines at Kenyatta University to prepare preservice secondary teachers, and support inservice secondary teachers, to actively engage high school students in learning mathematics and science while integrating technology as a teaching and learning tool. Project team members have already conducted one workshop with preservice and inservice mathematics and science teachers and some team members visited the Strengthening of Mathematics and Science in Secondary Education (SMASSE) Centre located at Kenya Science Teachers College to see the Computer for Schools Project, which was recently begun by the Government of Kenya.
